The Summer Sessions loan is available to eligible undergraduate students enrolled in at least six units in Berkeley Summer Sessions or at least six units in a combination of Berkeley Summer Sessions, Berkeley Summer Abroad, or Education Abroad Program, and demonstrate financial need based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The Summer Intercampus Program students are not eligible for the Summer Sessions loan. Students who meet the Summer Aid eligibility requirements, including SAP, will be awarded the subsidized Summer Sessions loan, funded by Berkeley Summer Sessions.
You meet all Summer Aid eligibility requirements. Students must meet SAP and be enrolled in 6 or more units to qualify for all awards (except the Pell Grant and Private loans, which can be awarded for less than half-time enrollment).
You can qualify for a maximum of $4,000 in the subsidized Summer Sessions loan, funded by Berkeley Summer Sessions.
Please note the Summer Sessions loan is NOT available to students enrolled through the Summer Intercampus Program.
Summer is the last term in the current 2023-24 academic year. To be considered for Summer financial aid, you will need to complete either the 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the 2023-24 California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
Non-U.S. citizens and those ineligible to complete the FAFSA but qualify for in-state tuition under AB 540 may complete the CADAA at https://dream.csac.ca.gov. Log into your account to retrieve and complete the 2023-24 CADAA.
