Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF I) – CARES Act
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020. Under the signature of Cruz Grimaldo, Assistance Vice Chancellor and Director, Financial Aid and Scholarships, the University of California, Berkeley signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004 (a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
The table below shows the total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students from the $15,220,314 the institution has received for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students as well as the total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II & III (HEERF II & III) – CRRSAA and ARP
On December, 27 2020, the federal government signed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), and on March, 11 2021, the federal government signed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP). The institution has used, or intends to use, the applicable amount of funds designated under Section 314(a)(1) of the CRRSAA and Section 2003(a)(1) of the ARP to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
The table below shows the total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students from the $55,461,044 ($15,220,314 under CRRSAA; $40,240,730 under ARP) the institution has received for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students as well as the total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 314(a)(1) of the CRRSAA and Section 2003(a)(1) of the ARP.
